Seeking a Forestry Supervisor to join our team in January 2024. The successful candidate will ensure proper vegetation maintenance supervision, tree risk assessment and herbicide applications which provides continuous service to our members, utilizing contractor crews in a safe and efficient manner. The candidate will maintain the right-of-way maintenance program on the designated cycle. Experience working for a utility company inspecting rights-of-way is a plus.
Essential Responsibilities:
Inspection of Right-of-way cutting by contractors
Directs the work of all contract Right-of-way trimming and spray crews to include:
Crew configuration.
Productivity of crews.
Evaluation of personnel and quality of work performed.
Location of crews.
May direct the injection of tree growth regulator by others or perform the task personally.
Plan all work in accordance to line clearance specifications, taking into consideration years of regrowth, regrowth rate, electric hardware configuration and construction as well as importance.
Preview of member requests and coordinate work with line crew.
Prepares all bid packets, meetings, and evaluations of bids for all types of vegetation maintenance.
Make recommendations to management regarding contractor or contractors to engage, based on the evaluation of past performance and the job to be bid on.
Review and approve vendor invoices.
Pre-plan and coordinate work.
Manage budget.
Resolve conflicts with members.
Must be able to work a flexible work schedule.
Assist as required in emergency and outage situations.
Participate in the rotating supervisor on call schedule.
Backs up other supervisory Operations positions when required.
On occasion performs other duties as required or directed.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred.
Five (5) years + related experience.
Must be able to identify species of trees common to Western Pennsylvania.
