Facilities & Project Manager - School of Design

Carnegie Mellon University's School of Design is searching for a Facilities & Project Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting, physically active, and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the school by providing essential support and assistance for complex programs and projects that require advanced administrative skills and in-depth knowledge of school and university practices, policies, procedures, and programs.
Core responsibilities will include:
- Serves as the building or property manager, handling routine and emergency maintenance issues, monitoring and maintaining facilities, submitting work orders, procuring quotes and monitoring changes
- Coordinates space allocation and/or moves within department or area and assumes lead role on all renovation/new construction projects including space utilization plans and proposals, procurement of quotes for renovation/new construction, and management of outside contractor, vendors, and internal resources to complete such projects
- Coordinating how special projects are executed and monitoring work priorities; complete special projects as assigned
- Acts as school liaison or contact person with other university departments; i.e. Registrar, Physical Plant, FMS, ISS, as well as with outside organizations
- Assist with monitoring departmental expenditures and budget, places purchase orders and approves invoices for payment
- Handles monthly accounting reconciliations, tracking down and correcting problems
- Collects and organizes data for various reports as well as produces and assembles comprehensive reports
- Provides in depth information to faculty, staff, students, outside associates and the general public concerning school and/or university policies and procedures
- Assists faculty with in-class technology a as needed
- Manages activation and disconnection of telephone lines
- Hires, trains and supervises student assistants for summer facilities maintenance
- Assists with special projects such as commencement and other event management as needed
- Refers only the most difficult issues and questions to the supervisor

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree preferred
- 3-5 years of administrative support experience required
